Indian Institute of Teacher Education A State Public University established by Govt. of Gujarat

In every Indian class, there are 3-4 students with learning disability. Learning disability is difficult to identify. In the absence of training, information and awareness about the symptoms, the students who suffer from learning disability are treated shabbily. There are no particular behavioural traits. They could be slow learner, fast learner, slow in identifying words, lonely, introvert or aggressive. It is a known factor that Albert Einstein was having learning disability. Experts say that people with learning disability are blessed ones, they are excellent artists. If their disability is identified, they can be guided, trained and could live normal.

IITE has planned a "Centre of Excellence for Learning Disability" in the coming years. To begin with we are preparing courses for the students of IITE and in - service teachers of the schools of Gujarat. These courses would help the teacher identify and handle learning disability in a better way.

If you happen to know someone who is working in the field of learning disability and can be helpful in developing course content. Then kindly write his/her details on vc@iite.ac.in.
